Charlemagne Motivational Speech
Greetings, “world leaders”, you must be wondering why I have gathered you together here today. You need to step up your ruling game. Take me for example. When I was just a little boy, I got no respect. People always said to me, “no, Charles, you’re just a kid, you don’t know anything about conquering and ruling a vast empire, you’ll never be the best.” Now that I have become the best by implementing my genius political structure, I have some words to share with you. So sit down and get ready to be taught a few things about politics.
First off, your militaries are being severely misused. I mean, a war in the middle east? And all I hear is that you aren’t doing it for resources, that you just want to help the people there. that’s the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard! That’s a no-win situation. When’s the last time you actually conquered any territory? Are any of you the Holy Roman Emperor? How many times have you doubled your territory? Once? Twice? I didn’t think so. You all need to grow a pair and take what is rightfully yours! God decrees it, and so shall I!
Secondly, what do you think you’re doing with these “governments” meddling in the townspeople’s affairs? No wonder your approval ratings are so low. Congress? Parliament? What are the peasants doing in government? Any strong leader knows that the power should be left to those with divine right, and their personally appointed missi dominici to keep the peace and collect taxes. This is far different from your police and local representatives, no, these missi dominici aren’t left in one city to stagnate and become corrupt, but are cycled through all the various townships and counties, so they never gain too much power in one area. And they wouldn’t tell the people what to do and when to do it, these people would let the peasants continue to follow their own cultures and laws, the dominici would only keep peace and take small amounts of taxes. With my ruling prowess, even you, Kim Jong, will rule a powerful and prosperous empire.
Why? you may wonder. Why should I listen to the supreme ruler of the largest and most powerful empire in Western Europe? Why would the Holy Roman Emperor know anything about ruling anything? Well, I believe I just answered my own question.

Look @ Me Now Project
Theme
In my life, I try to relay the message to just be you. I don’t necessarily care what people think of me, and I, conversely, try not to judge what other people do openly. I judge people, sure, but I don’t voice those judgements publicly. Personally, I find this message to be satisfying, but other people might not have the same ideas as me, which is fine, I suppose.
Conflict
I don’t really have any serious conflicts going on in life, I suppose my most important conflict is a combination of Man vs. self and Man vs. time because I am always procrastinating on things I should be doing earlier. For example, this paragraph was written at 10:00pm the night before it was due.
Characterization
The three most important people in my life would probably be my (I’m going to cheat a little bit) Parents because of they’ve been around for the past 15 years, my friends because they bring out my wonderful personality, and my brother, because he’s been a massive influence on me my whole life.
Protagonist
The person(s) that bring out the best in me would be my friends because they are always there to joke around with and talk to, and always seem to cheer me up when I’m down. I enjoy being around them because they are fun to hang out with, but they aren’t as helpful when I have homework to get done.
Antagonist
The person who brings out the worst in me would probably be past me because he always seems to be getting me into trouble. Be it by not doing his work in a timely manner and forcing me to do it last minute, by eating far too much and making me pay the consequences, or by sleeping through his alarm and not waking me up in time for school.
Flashback
Okay so picture this: I’m 7, in 2nd grade, and I was home from school for the weekend. We had, and still have, a rope swing in our front yard, with a board of wood on the bottom that you could sit on, really cool stuff. So I was playing with that swing, seeing how high I could swing it without sitting on it. So, with my 7 year old arms, I wasn’t swinging it super high, but to me it was swinging to an insane height. Well mid swing, with the plank directly opposite me, I lost focus for a second, I think someone called my name, so I turned my head to look at them, and then, seemingly out of no-where, this piece of wood comes flying at me, and nails me right below my eye with the corner. So, I had to go to the hospital and get it sutured, but they decided to put this new adhesive thing on it instead of stitches, so I had this lame bandage under my eye instead of stitches for a month or so. The funny thing is, the actual being hit didn’t even hurt all that much, the glue that they used stung like all hell, though. I still have a little scar under my eye from that ordeal.
Irony
Another time when I was a child, my brother wanted to play with those little plastic swords, but I was not so inclined for some reason or the other. Understandably, my brother was bummed, because playing swords is sweet. So, he went to my mom and had her tell me to go play with him, but I was standing by my original answer, so I started making up excuses about why I shouldn’t play with him. Well, one of the things I came up with was, what if I got hit in the mouth and broke one of my grown up teeth? They didn’t buy it. So, a few minutes later, I was in the backyard, playing swords. Because I didn’t want to play in the first place, I wasn’t getting into it, and my defense wasn’t really on point. Before I go any further, when me and my brother played swords, we played to win. Long story short, I have half of a fake tooth now.
Symbolism
If I had to pick one item in my room that represents a part of my identity it would be my chair. It’s a big old wing back chair that I got at the thrift store a year or so ago. It represents a part of my identity because I’ve been told I have a sort of old world feel to me, and because it’s built to last, like me.
Foreshadowing
I am currently on the robotics team here at High Tech High, and I think that it could lead to a career in engineering. It isn’t my first choice for a career, but, who knows? It’s nice to have this opportunity available to me in case any of my other plans don’t pan out as imagined, or if I haven’t come up with a suitable plan in 2 years time.
Reflection
1) The most important thing I learned during this project would be being true to myself, because I had to be very honest with myself when writing it.
2) I would most have liked to work on the pictures a little more for this project. I just sort of put them in last minute without a ton of forethought.
3) The part in this project that I worked the hardest on would be the irony and flashback portions of the writing, because they are the most interesting to me, and I spent the most time on them.
4) The most enjoyable part of this project, to me, was writing the flashback story, because I don't think about my past all that often, and it was nice to look back at that time in my life.
5)The part of this project I found the least enjoyable would be the photos portion, because I don't have many pictures of myself, and I didn't have much material to choose through, which led to me not having the best pictures.
6) One way that this project could be improved would be by allowing any medium for the art portion, instead of just photos.
